Anyone can be affected by a mental health condition either themselves or a family member, friend, or colleague. First Aid for Mental Health Awareness also known as Mental Health First Aid is an internationally recognised training course, designed to teach people how to spot the signs and symptoms of mental ill health and provide help on a first aid basis. In the past year in the UK alone, 74 percent of people have felt so stressed they have been overwhelmed or unable to cope. Being able to recognise the signs of mental health early will enable you and your organisation to provide the necessary support required.
This course covers the content of the Level 1 course (A ½-Day course aimed at providing learners with the knowledge to identify suspected mental health conditions and the skills to start a conversation and be able to signpost the person towards professional help) but also expands on the effects of drugs and alcohol, incorporates the First Aid for Mental Health Action Plan, and covers ways in which a positive mental health culture can be supported within a workplace.
The course will equip you with the necessary skills to recognise signs of mental ill health, an understanding of common mental health issues, and knowledge of how to support positive wellbeing.
