Under the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992, employers are required to take appropriate steps to reduce the risk of injury to employees, this includes suitable training.  The Level 2 Award in Manual Handling, Principles and Practice combines both the theoretical and hands-on elements of the subject and teaches learners techniques to lift, carry, push, and pull objects safely within their individual capabilities.  This course raises awareness of how incorrect manual handling can cause injury. It also covers the process for carrying out a manual handling risk assessment and dynamic risk assessments.

The syllabus

  • Identify and understand the risks associated with manual handling.
  • Learn the value of risk assessment and how to apply it.
  • Make recommendations to manage risks.
  • Apply the principles of safer handling to a range of everyday manual handling tasks.

This qualification, aimed at those who carry out manual handling at work, provides essential information about manual handling hazards and their control and provides the knowledge and skills for those in the workplace, or those entering the workforce on the hazards and controls related to manual handling.  This course ensures that you meet recommendations underlined by the HSE, The Health and Safety Act 1974 and the Manual Handling Operation Regulations 1992 and provides you with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to use what you have learned.  This course does not qualify learners to undertake risk assessments independently, however it will provide them with the knowledge to assist the employer in completing the risk assessment and supports employers in demonstrating their commitment to their legal obligations.

Certification

Qualification expires on the 3 years anniversary after successfully completing and being issued the certification.  However, we recommend that you attend an upskill course every year to refresh your skills.  As part of our environmental policy, all certificates will be available as a link and PDF download on completion. Our e-certificates are valid certification and accepted by all governing bodies and accreditations centres.

Numbers

To ensure you get the most effective learning experience, learners must be physically able to participate and we limit maximum of 16 delegates can attend this course.

Requirements

Candidates have a good understanding of spoken and written English. While we are often able to provide support to people who do not have English as a first language, our ability to do so is limited by the time available and the number of people who require assistance. We may be able to make special arrangements if requested in advance. Please contact us if you need any guidance.  Candidates do not need to have prior learning or experience in this qualification.

What to bring on the day?

Candidates are required to bring Photo ID in order that they may take the exam. This can either be a Passport or a Driving License
